This is Dr. Len Schwartz. You’d likely agree that referrals make the best new clients, patients or customers. That being said, If you don’t have a referral loop in place this strategy is for you.

What’s a referral loop?

What systems or procedures do you have in place when a patient client or customer approaches your front desk about referring someone?

Do you have something to give them?
Do you have something that tells that referral why you’re better/different or why they would want to hire you over anybody else?
Do you have a gift certificate or coupon that you hand out?
Do you have a script for your front desk?

For example, “Bob, if I don’t hear from you or your referral, Joe, in the next three to five days, would it be okay if I followed up with you to see if Joe has any questions?”.

That question makes your patient client or customer responsible for getting you an answer about whether their referral is coming in.
