Here is a very smart marketing strategy that requires a bit of timing. This marketing strategy should start in the summer, although your efforts will pay off during the holiday season.
While most of your colleagues/competition are lying on the beach enjoying the sun, surf and sand, you will be creating holiday marketing ideas and services that you can offer your buying public during the holiday season.
You need to create and maintain your local (or national if that applies to you) media contact lists. They include magazines, radio and TV shows that book people/stories, like YOU, six months in advance (of the holiday season). They are looking for experts or product/service ideas that are specific (tied into) to the holiday season.
Think about all of the different opportunities that exist for you and your business. What advice, insight, perspective, products and/or services do you provide that can “help” people during the holiday season? Call the media in July and let them know about your “solutions” and you will find yourself with A LOT of attention. Connect with the media and you will be surprised by how they utilize your expertise. It’s a fantastic idea that most people never think about until it’s too late.
